Overview
This week, you will choose a theory for your final project and begin considering the research process that will be necessary to complete this project. Approach this short essay as (a) an opportunity to reflect upon and apply what you learned this week based on the assigned readings, discussions, and activities and (b) an opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise based on your educational and professional experiences in the past. Consider it a first step in preparing for your final project.
In this short essay, you will identify the theory and associated key theorist(s) you intend to use for the final project. You must choose from the provided list of Project Theories. Then you will think critically about locating and evaluating research in preparation for the final project.
Prompt
Include the following in your short essay:
- Identify the key theory and associated key theorist(s) that you have chosen for your final project. Give a brief explanation of why you chose this theory.
- Describe the difference between primary and secondary sources in the field of psychology.
- Reflect on how you will evaluate primary sources differently from secondary sources. Why would you evaluate them differently?
- Identify the research methods that are used and how they will impact your research (experimental, correlational, natural observation, and case studies).
- Briefly describe how you will locate the research materials needed for this course and this final project.
What to Submit
Your short essay assignment should be 3–4 paragraphs in length, and any sources used should be cited in APA format. Submit the assignment as a Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins.
