Hello Everyone!

My name is Joe, and I am coming to you all from Newport, Rhode Island! No, I do not live in a mansion, and we are not a part of New York! I look forward to having discussions with you all throughout the course, and hearing about your topics and the research you put together on it.

For the industry I am choosing to focus on, I will be selecting the United States’ military defense industry. Within this industry, I want to hone in on the air and missile defense market domain. The primary reason for this is because I have a lot of experience and knowledge with the products that are at the forefront of this industry. I am a mechanical engineer for Raytheon Company, whom just recently merged with United Technologies Corporation to become “Raytheon Technologies Corporation”. Due to the fact that I’ve been working on the Patriot Missile System for quite some time now, along with its fame resulting from the success stories during the Gulf War, there is ample public information available to elaborate on the upcoming topics for this course…and this is just Patriot! There are numerous other solutions within this market domain, from Lockheed’s Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, to Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ Iron Dome. The constant change in technology and advancement of threats around the world leads this market domain to be notorious, prominent, and widely-demanded on the global stage.

Due to these solutions being associated with federal funding, there is ample amounts of reliable sources, from news publications to fiscal data provided by the government in their annual reports. I don’t believe there will be an issue conducting research.

I look forward to diving deeper into this market I have come to be a part of and discussing it with you all.
